FRIENDS OF THE SHERBORN LIBRARY
The Friends of the Sherborn Library is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1971. This dedicated group of Sherborn residents strives to bring valuable programming and enriching materials to the Sherborn community as well as to provide a welcoming space within the walls of the Library. The Friends work hand-in-hand with the Trustees of the Sherborn Library, who are responsible for the literal bricks and mortar of the Library.
Through volunteerism and fundraising efforts, the Friends support high-quality adult and family Library programs, performers and speakers, a museum pass program, and student awards. The Friends provide essential funding for new and in-demand books and periodicals, computer upgrades, emerging media, and art exhibits at the Library.
The Friends organize and host many annual events, including the Arts and Crafts Fair and the Sherborn Summer Concert Series. In addition, the Friends serve as the Welcome Committee for town newcomers by mailing welcome packets and planning social gatherings for both adults and families to meet fellow Sherborn residents.
The Friends were pleased to kick-start the Campaign for the Sherborn Library, using amounts held in a renovation fund steadily built from donations to the Friends made over the past two decades. In the renovated Library, the Friends’ focus is on outfitting and furnishing the new Teen Tech Lab, as well as providing an art piece for the main Library space and – in the children’s wing – a commissioned mural by renowned Sherborn artist Robert Evans.
